CALMAC shares energy storage solutions at the 2014 World Energy Engineering Congress

October 10, 2014

The World Energy Engineering Congress is a forum where energy efficiency experts come together to hold seminars on important industry topics and introduce the latest energy-saving technology to the community. The 37th annual WEEC took place in the first week of October in Washington, D.C., and brought together industry-leading energy professionals for three days of collaboration and education. The energy experts from CALMAC attended the conference and were able to share the latest innovations in thermal storage with other visitors. DN Tanks and Crom thermal storage companies were also in attendance.

Notable events at WEEC
Several memorable presentations made this year's World Energy Engineering Congress an event to remember. The organization's website explains that the goal of the conference is to equip each attendee with a "big picture" view of the state of the industry. The conference's keynote speaker was none other than former President Bill Clinton. He discussed how various industries could work to fight climate change while growing economies with innovative technology, referencing his Clinton Climate Initiative. Several educational seminars were given on topics ranging from thermal storage and load management to lighting efficiency and smart grid applications. Non-profit organizations, like the CliPlus, attendees were able to expand their tech expertise by visiting GreenStreet's expo showcase, presented by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The conference also provided great opportunities for industry professionals to network and exhibitor tables help to educate attendees about the wide range of efficiency technologies currently in development.

CALMAC presents on energy storage
CALMAC, the industry's leader in thermal energy storage solutions, was in attendance at WEEC to share its best practices and insights with the business community. The company's presenter was Vice President of Sales and Marketing Paul Valenta, a LEED Accredited Professional with 32 years of experience in the heating and cooling sector. Valenta lectured on the importance of using hvac solutions like thermal energy storage to lower impact on the environment and reduce peak demand and helping enhance the performance of the smart grid. One of the company's installations, a 22-story commercial building in Philadelphia, served as the case study for CALMAC's presentation. Valenta  explained how best practices in thermal energy storage were able to reduce the building's spending on energy by $40,000 each month.
