USGBC Honors Mark MacCracken, CEO of CALMAC
Event celebrates MacCracken’s work and supports critical education, advocacy and sustainable research initiatives

The Urban Green Gala is hosted by the Urban Green Council, the New York Chapter of the USGBC. It promotes the creation of cities that coexist with their natural environment and contribute to the health and well-being of their residents. This annual celebration honors the contributions of leading professionals who help advocate the mission of advancing the sustainability of urban buildings.
Who:
Mark MacCracken is the CEO of CALMAC Manufacturing Corporation, the largest manufacturer of Thermal Energy Storage equipment in the world, with over 4,000 installations in 35 countries. In his 30-plus years with the firm, MacCracken has been involved in all aspects of the company and served as principal investigator on research projects with Oak Ridge National Labs, NASA and National Renewable Energy Research Lab. In his continual support of energy efficiency, he is regularly in contact with the DOE, EPA, EPRI and electric utilities across the country and around the world, and served as Chair of the USGBC National Board of Directors. Mark was also one of the 200 expert volunteers that formed the Building Resiliency Task Force, which created a proposal for improving citywide infrastructure at the request of New York City’s Mayor Bloomberg.
This year’s honorees also include Rafeal Pelli, Partner of Pelli Clarke Peilli Architects; and Steven Winter, founder and president of Steven Winter Associates.
