Cal MacCracken fires up first jet engine at GE

Cal MacCracken tests an advanced combustion chamber.

New ASHRAE Hall of Fame member and CALMAC Corp. founder, Cal MacCracken, fires up the first jet engine at GE. In 1947, he goes on to start his own corporation, and develops over 250 products. Cal is most known today for innovations in energy storage and ice rinks.

In big news, Cal MacCracken, CALMAC's founder, was inducted into ASHRAE's Hall of Fame at the ASHRAE Meeting, now joining the likes of known air-conditioning innovators such as Willis H. Carrier and Reuban N. Trane. CALMAC CEO, Mark MacCracken accepted the award for his fathers outstanding Industry and Society Achievements.

During the ASHRAE Meeting, CALMAC also exhibited at the AHR Expo and displayed the Ice Completion Module. Paired with CALMAC Ice Storage tanks, this prepacked system makes planning, specifying, schematics and incorporating control systems fast and efficient.

Next CALMAC's Mark Johnson is addressing folks in Miami with the session "Ice-Based Energy Storage: The Low Hanging Fruit." CALMAC is also gearing up to exhibit at AEE's Global Con in Boston and giving away free expo tickets! Plus, CALMAC's VP, Paul Valenta will be presenting the AEE talk: Preparing for Energy Upgrades: Identifying & Understanding the Hidden Costs in Your Electric Bill. And CALMAC's Evan Berger will participate in a panel discussion about energy storage at Building Energy,also in Boston.
