Hello everyone. Here’s what’s new.

CALMAC hosted it’s International Sales Meeting during the ASHRAE AHR Expo in New York City. The meeting kicked off in Times Square and concluded at CALMAC’s ice rink at Rockefeller Center. Meanwhile at the AHR Expo, show attendees went on ASHRAE Technical Tours of ice storage systems at New York University’s New School and Rockefeller Center. Private group tours of the CALMAC factory and New York’s largest office space, 55 Water Street, were also offered by Trane and CALMAC during the expo. Mark MacCracken, CALMAC CEO, presented the “The Ever-Growing Value Proposition of TES” and was part of a Panel Discussion “Why Aren’t You Using Thermal Energy Storage? Dispelling the Myths and discussing the Realities of TES Integration and Cost Savings” at the ASHRAE Winter Conference and CALMAC’s 8 foot tall IceBank energy storage tank really got the attention of attendees in the exhibit hall.

Major news highlights included announcements by Puerto Rico to issue an energy storage mandate and New York City to propose thermal energy storage incentives of $2,600/kW. A groundbreaking ceremony of an Ice Storage Cooling Project was held in Aruba (video). And CALMAC's Evan Berger, Director of Energy Solutions, has been chosen as Member Chair of the California Energy Storage Alliance’s Permanent Load Shifting Working Group.

In other news, SmartGridNews published a guest editorial by MacCracken on the proposed New York incentive program. Paul Valenta, CALMAC VP of Sales & Marketing posed the question “What are some missed opportunities with chillers?” with his contributed article in Construction Specifier. Valenta also contributed the article “Understanding Today’s Energy Pricing” which uncovers the mystery of demand billing. NOESIS Energy did a product review of IceBank®. Plus, Turkish construction magazine İnşaat Dünyasi, published an article about CALMAC’s IceBank.
