May 16, 2016
The 14th-annual North American Rink Conference and Expo will be held from May 16-19 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, Ohio. Ice rink owners and managers, as well as a number of industry leaders, experts and vendors from across North America, will be attending the event which offers product showings and educational classes.
Breaking down NARCE
NARCE is one of the premier professional networking and educational skating rink industry events in North America. Owners and general managers of hockey and figure skating teams, as well as administrators, directors and managers of arenas attend to learn about best practices and take classes that count toward a number of different certifications, according to the NARCE website:
- Certified ice rink manager, rink administrator and ice technician (CIRM, CRA, CIT)
- First aid CPR participant and instructor
The courses taught at NARCE cover nearly every aspect of successful ice rink management, including ice making, energy efficiency and risk management. They are taught by representatives of some of the most well-known organizations in the industry; STAR, Zamboni Resurfice, U.S. Figure Skating and Hockey, to name a few.
Course registration is now closed, though tickets are still available for the event. This includes access to the attendee and exhibitor networking social event, the "RINK expo" trade show and participation in raffles and giveaways, the NARCE website reported.

CALMAC at NARCE
CALMAC will be showcasing its IceMat ice rink products at booth No. 313 during the event. Attendees will have the ability to talk with the company about the flexibility IceMat provides for portable and permanent custom rinks.
Perhaps the most notable example of IceMat in action is at Rockefeller Center. The nationally recognizable ice rink is a New York City landmark, and it uses the IceMat portable ice rink to keep operations fluid even if outdoor temperatures reach higher than 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
The IceMat system is a series of mats that are rolled over the floor, then sprayed down with water until it's covered. It provides a thin, but durable, sheet of ice that drastically reduces energy consumption, and is perfect for any rink - indoor or outdoor, for parks, malls or the NHL.
If you'd like to learn more about how IceMat can help reduce energy costs and consumption at your arena, visit booth No. 313 at NARCE. Be sure to buy your tickets before it's too late. If you're unable to attend, feel free to contact us for more information.
