CALMAC to Present at NESEA’s Building Energy NYC Conference

What:

Building Energy NYC is a one-day conference and tradeshow that brings together decision makers from the NYC commercial building, utility and political sectors. Organized by Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) members, who are also energy professionals, the conference will challenge long-held beliefs and provide an introduction to new technologies and financial tools that can assist companies in reaching energy efficiency goals.

In his session, Evan Berger of CALMAC® will discuss how commercial buildings can be turned into virtual power plants through the use of thermal energy storage technology. Con Edison and NYSERDA are strongly endorsing the adoption of this technology to create more resilience within buildings, a concept that has been pushed to the forefront since Hurricane Sandy. New York City’s utility is working to reduce peak demand by 100MW and has dedicated $200 million in incentives towards distributed energy storage projects that will help to achieve this goal. Evan will speak to how ice-based energy storage can manage peak demand, how to capitalize on current utility programs and how this technology will create a more stable, sustainable power grid.
