THREE MORE CALMAC REPRESENTATIVES ACCREDITED BY USGBC

Englewood, NJ – Mark MacCracken, Paul Valenta and Mike Sheedy of the CALMAC Manufacturing Corporation, have recently been named LEED™ (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professionals™ by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) and will earn one point toward LEED Certification on their green building projects. Over 80% of CALMAC’s sales team is now LEED Accredited.

LEED Accredited Professionals are experienced building industry practitioners who have demonstrated their knowledge of integrated design and their capacity to facilitate the LEED certification process on the LEED Professional Accreditation examination.

"Membership and active participation in USGBC is important to CALMAC,” says CALMAC CEO, Mark MacCracken. “The LEED process offers end-users a superior product that, while lowering operating costs and increasing occupant productivity, lowers impacts on our environment for little or no cost premium."

In order to earn their accreditation, the three had to prove their understanding of green building practices and principles as well as their familiarity with LEED requirements, resources, and processes. The accreditation program recognizes these individuals for their expertise in green building and LEED to help meet the growing demand from the public and private sectors for green buildings.

Areas of expertise and knowledge tested on the examination include:

· in-depth familiarity with the LEED Rating System;

• understanding of LEED project registration/technical support/certification processes;
• knowledge of LEED documentation requirements; demonstrated knowledge of design and construction industry standards and process;
• general understanding of the various standards referenced in the Rating System;
• understanding of green and sustainable design strategies and practices, and corresponding credits in the LEED Rating System; and
• familiarity with key green and sustainable design resources and tools.

MacCracken earned a BS in Mechanical Engineering, has three U.S. Patents and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of New Jersey. He is the Chairman of ARI’s Thermal Energy Storage Section, the former Chairman of ASHRAE’s Thermal Storage Committee and member of TC 10.2, an ASHRAE Distinguished Speaker and is an active member of the International District Energy Association, the US Green Building Council, and the Alliance to Save Energy.

Valenta is the North American Sales Manager for CALMAC Manufacturing. He holds an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Nebraska and is a member of ASHRAE.

Sheedy is CALMAC’s Northeast Regional Sales Manager. A graduate of Notre Dame University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Sheedy is a member of ASHARAE.
